Weekend Food Choices Week 26: Where’s Your Burrito

It has certainly been an eventful holiday so after being a busy bee, here is the first Weekend Food Choice of 2010

We failed to get seats at Cinema 7 to catch Sherlock Holmes so we opted for the normal cinema where you have to get your popcorn from the counter instead of it being served to you while you’re comfortably seated on your lazy boy *smoke over head*. I admit, the movie was great just the same (i do love movies in old world England setting)

Our schedule did go a little haywire to accommodate the only reasonable seats in the cinema, so when we were finally set for dinner, i was famished!

when i saw the “wait 15-20 minutes” i almost fainted, but the “made to order” gave me patience

i had to call on the server to educate me on the difference between the Mexican dishes:
1. Quesadilla -cheese and meat folded in tortilla
2. Enchilada -tortilla rolled around a filling topped with rich sauce
3. Fajita -meat, rice, tortilla and other ingredients served on a sizzling plate
4. Tacos -we all know what tacos are
5. Burrito – your choice of filling usually with rice, meat and beans, wrapped in a flour tortilla

you see hubby and i were feeling under the weather and after much deliberation with our indecisive mood, here are the things we ordered

Herbed Lemonade
This obviously did not help my sore throat as i totally lost my voice today! Bummer!

Chilli Beef Enchilada
This reminded me of lasagna except instead of pasta, in between the meat and cheese layers were tortilla.

A creamy, creamy dish, delicious with drops of hot sauce!

Chilli Beef Burrito
served on a hot plate with yogurt and whole tomato garnish. It smelled faintly of mexican beans and i feared it might be loaded with it.

but, when i took a bite of this burrito i was delighted!! It was a perfect blend of rice, cheese, meat and just a tad bit of beans wrapped in thin soft flour tortilla, not at all spicy.
Saying that i devoured this dish would be an understatement! hahaha! It was gone in less time than we had to wait for it to arrive. Hubby was so surprised after looking up from his enchilada that he blurted “Where is your burrito?!”

Obviously, i wouldn’t mind going back and ordering this again!

  1. Was that mint in the lemonade? The enchilada looks so rich and decadent – but, that burrito…! It all looks so good!

  4. Oh, there are so many places we still needed to visit – 2 week visit to the Philippines just isn’t enough time! As much as my husband loved all the food we ate during the holidays, he missed Mexican and had to have it almost as soon as we got home. If we’d known about Jalapenos . . . !
