Dessert Discovery: Pistachio Cake

I always try to find ways to entertain my readers and having an extreme sweet tooth, i thought that it was just appropriate to have a dessert series in addition to ODB’s Weekend Food Choices and Watch ‘n Snackin’

so here goes…

There’s this great bakery in Pasig where you would least expect it to be, a hole in the wall, you might say, the Purple Oven

The products of this bakery are always a hit during the holiday festivities in our house…or maybe it’s just me and my love for good desserts, but it is of no surprise that i would feature one of their pastries as the first entry (and probably the next few entries) of our Dessert Discovery series

Pistachio Stardust

When i asked about this cake, the bakery personnel said it was a pistachio covered chiffon pastry.

It definitely looked good on the outside but as i was buying this for Hubby as an alternative to his favorite cheesecake, i had to make sure it had none of the things he does not eat -and believe you me, it is quite a list!

I was told that this cake has the lightest chiffon with white icing filling set on chewy meringue, and that it was delicious

…she was not kidding! The pastry was very light -perfect even after a heavy meal, with the spongiest chiffon layers separated by the same icing that covered the cake, and the meringue base, a delicious chewiness you could enjoy even on its own!

Hubby loved it and i happily took credit for discovering a new dessert option!

-if you have any suggestions on what we could feature for our new Dessert Discovery series, or any of ODB’s series for that matter, please email us by clicking the link on the upper right portion of the page and we will happily try your recommendations!

Until our next sugar rush, have a great week everyone!
