Superb Christmas Eve Dinner

Christmas eve dinner with the family is always a special event for me and because i have no cooking skills (or patience for that matter), dinner is usually at a good restaurant.
This year, we decided we’ve had enough of food by the quantity offered by buffets and went for the quality of the food. Hubby chose this steakhouse hidden from all the holiday chaos

Tucked away in an obscure building in Makati, Elbert’s Steak Room has been getting good reviews since it opened.

Wether you’re evading the prying eyes of the paparazzi or just want some peace and quiet, Elbert’s steak room is the place to be.  Just excuse the 3 flights of narrow staircase you have to climb to get there (yes, there are no elevators nor escalators).

I love it when we’re served by adequately trained restaurant staff.  We were ushered to our table & the dinner menu was given to each of the guests but hubby being the host was given the wine list.

Im a fan of white wine but because hubby thinks reds are best with steak, we decided on a compromise, a rose from Portugal

The bread basket offered warm soft rolls with crusty sides great with butter or dipped in olive oil

It wasn’t long until the salad was served

Fresh greens & cherry tomatoes drizzled with reduced cranberry vinegarette topped with pecan & parmesan -delicious!

That night they offered either tomato soup or cream of cauliflower

I liked the light tomato soup with just the right amount of tanginess to ready the palate for the meat to be served but the cream of cauliflower was pretty good as well

we were enjoying each others company when steak sauce were served…steak’s coming i thought!

Elbert’s steak room prides itself in their preparation and cooking of their steaks, from where they get their supply to storing, thawing, pre cooking with the application of grapeseed oil and seasoned with freshly ground black pepper and Sicilian sea salt to cooking and serving.

All this attention to detail is evident in each plate that was served.

Filet Mignon with duck fat potato wedges

Super Prime Ribeye with truffled mashed potatoes

Prime Ribeye with Linguine mushroom black truffle sauce

T bone steak with buttered vegetables

i learned that you’re almost sure you’re getting good steak when they give you an actual steak knife and not just a table knife on the table

hubby had his steak medium rare while i had mine cooked medium

perfect!

They say a great dinner is made superb in the company of family…

…we definitely had a superb Christmas eve dinner!
-if only mom, baby sis and little bro were with us it would have been perfect (we miss you XOXOXO)
