Weekend Food Choices Week 68: Holiday with Family

This weekend was filled with good food made even better because it was shared with family
a pretty fruit basket from Ninong R & beautiful wife C

For the past couple of years, the family of hubby’s cousin (who are, if i may say, as enthusiastic about food as hubby and i) has been spending the holidays with us and it has always been so much fun with them around…

the traditional delicious piggy who is always invited to our new year’s eve party

…i know he doesn’t look very happy…but we sure were!

such deliciously crunchy pork skin and tender meat!

hubby and Ninong R pretending to chop the crunchy skin and fall off the bones meat but i actually think they were sneaking a few bites off little piggy…

the rest of new year’s eve dinner

really good noodles care of our house help who was very busy serving all the yummy food

and this is the famous “brown sauce” aka lechon paksiw that we all love…my taste buds are tingling just thinking about it!

Now for my favorite part of any meal…dessert

Ginataang Bilo bilo
delicious warm or chilled

Classic Apple Pie

this is such a wonderful discovery! It was still warm when we picked it up and slicing through the pie gave such a delightful scent of apples and cinnamon!

i love it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream

Blueberry Cheesecake
this is hubby’s favorite and i can’t blame him. Perfect with hubby’s cafe latte

as we waited for 2012 to ring in we snacked -as if we hadn’t been eating the whole day, and sipped on chilled grape juice and korean cranberry wine

with my musical horn and change in our pockets we said goodbye to 2011 and welcomed 2012!

5…4…3…2…1…Happy New Year!

May 2012 bring us all happiness and contentment and more delicious dishes to sample and share

    • Hi Mommy Marie, the cakes are from Purple Oven, a little bakery tucked away in Pasig. I’ll be doing a post on them soon =)

  3. […] Well, it was not bad. The crust was buttery, almost cheesecake-like and the walnuts were delicious. However the apple slices were a bit dry for me. It was like the they were rolled in cinnamon and stuffed in an already made delicious crust. See, I like my apple pie baked with the stuffing just like my favorite pie from Purple Oven. […]
