Weekend Food Choices Week 64: Our New Wing Hub
When hubby told me that he found a new wing place in Ortigas, my reply was “let’s go”
nestled between casual restaurants and bars in Metrowalk, Wing Hub reminds me of Yard House, toned down and minus the beer bar.
we were told that they opened 3 months ago
… so where were we that we did not hear the buzz about this place?!
when we arrived there were no other customers inside the restaurant but there were several groups eating and drinking al fresco
you could order a minimum of 3 pieces of chicken wings but who’s ever satisfied with 3?!
after we ordered we were looking around thinking how cool the concept of the restaurant was. we noticed the names on the restaurant’s logo (Humphrey, Manoj and Andrew). We learned that Humphrey refers to the Humphrey Navarro, main chef of Parallel45 the then secret fine dining restaurant in Mandaluyong. i was delighted because we had good memories of Parallel45 when hubby took me there months before we tied the knot.
But before we finished our walk down memory lane our food arrived…
i love clam chowder because i love seafood, cream and sourdough
of course nothing beats the freshness of the clam chowder from Fisherman’s Warf
but i loved how wing hub’s bread bowl was both resilient and doughy
ohh and did i mention how sinfully creamy it was…delicious!!! this has to be my favorite local clam chowder!
the noodles were cooked just right but did not seem to be the kind made of semolina. the spaghetti sauce was however pretty good and the meatballs, although a bit dry as it was not mixed with the tomato sauce, was decent
now on to the main course
the menu offered 8 wing flavors (Buffalo, Hawaiian, Pinoy barbeque, Peri Peri, Taiwanese, Korean, Thai & Garlic Parmesan)
of course hubby ordered the hottest chicken wings in the menu PeriPeri
he says the flavor was good but why am i not surprised that he thought it was not up to par with his fiery tastebuds’ expectations
i however did not have any guts to try it and feasted on my Garlic Parmesan wings
this happens to be a crowd pleaser
but next time i think i’ll get a flavor with a bit of spice like the buffalo
…and yes, we will definitely be back!

Oh wow, I’d love to try all their flavors except for the spicy peri peri, although I’d bet that would be what my hubby would go for, too. 🙂
