Weekend Food Choices Week 94: Delightful til the End
Hubby decided that this year, for our usual post valentines celebration, we would do brunch at the 2012 MBKRS Best French Restaurant awardee
Cicou, first opened in Makati in 2008, owned by Chef Cyrille Soenen, the brains behind 7 Corners Restaurant in Crowne Plaza Ortigas.
2 years in operation, the original Cicou won the award for Manila’s Best Kept Restaurant Secret’s best fine dining restaurant in 2010 and moved to it’s current location in Greenhills in 2012, much to our delight.
A cozy interior and not to mention the warm and friendly restaurant staff will greet you as you enter the restaurant.
I was definitely excited for what was in store for our brunch….
fresh from the oven, crisp, delicious baguettes were served at the start of our meal
i loved these! Even Hubby who is not fond of french bread, surprisingly finished his roll.
Brunch picks:
Roasted Bone Marrow Php450
this appetizer, prepared with parsley garlic butter sauce and served with crisp bread baguette, was a beauty
the bones were packed with sinfully delicious marrow and i just couldn’t wait to dig in
i loved how the flavors of the sauce and garnish just came together and infused the…well, blobs of fat
the crisp baguette was such a great medium to deliver the roasted bone marrow to our taste buds
i know i said i would cut down on fatty food …
but i just couldn’t stop myself…so good!
My brunch dish was just delicious. Stuffed with goat cheese and submerged in parsley cream sauce, as soon as the stuffed pillows burst and touched my palate, i was in cream heaven!
Roasted US Beef Hanging Tender with Grilled Foie Gras, Spiced Prawns, Mashed Potatoes, French Beans and Green Peas Php650
Hubby was very happy with his dish as well.
The aroma of the roasted beef mixed with the spiced prawns was inviting and the site of the foie gras…well, that would make anyone happy in my opinion…
The tender beef and the smooth creamy foie gras was just exquisite. The flavors were intensely satisfying!
Brunch seemed to be over all too soon…
Capped off with a good cup of coffee…
this round crusty cake is a must try
the layers of butter and sugar that make up this pastry, slowly baked until the butter puffs up the caramelized layers of dough is just pure joy
beautiful French music playing overhead, with us slowly sipping our coffee and savoring every bite of this French dessert, i almost felt like Hubby already took to the trip he has promised to take me to…
till then, i think we’ll just have to revisit this wonderful brasserie, if just to experience this addicting ending to one of the most delicious brunch hubby and i ever had!
