Weekend Food Choices Week 72: Not Cool
A couple of months ago, hubby excitedly pointed at the sign that we saw at the corner of the main street near our home…it seemed we were going to have a ramen place nearby
Yahoo
So on the day they opened we just had to have dinner there
The location was great and the interior was bright and new so the restaurant seemed promising
I wanted to start off with my favorite unagi maki
Unfortunately the presentation of the dish gave me a dire warning of the quality of the roll
Made with such poor attention to detail, the roll almost falls apart once we attempted to pick them up and the unagi no tare…sad
Hubby decided to order his favorite gyoza
we were happy this was decently good
Now to the ramen
they unfortunately did not serve tonkotsu ramen so we decided to share a bowl of shio ramen
disappointing…
So even though we were both quite full we decided to try their miso ramen just to make ourselves feel better
tasted more like local miso than the japanese kind…boo
As a last hurah i got myself a coffee float
sweet and strong thank goodness!
Over all Ramen Cool was disappointing, aside from the satisfying gyoza and the sweet dessert, everything else was blah
I’ve always been very trusting to the point of being gulible and i have to remind mysef a little caution is always in order
and just because im told its Ramen Cool it does not necessarily mean they serve great ramen or cool dishes
In life things don’t always appear as they seem…i never seem to learn
You’re right, the unagi maki doesn’t seem appealing, although the coffee float looks like something I would finish in one chug, looks refreshing! š
Ugh. What a disappointment! Unfortunately, the maki looks like they forgot to put the unagi inside, rolled it up, realized their mistake and figured it would be OK if they just plopped it on top. *Sigh*. Perhaps it’s just growing pains and the restaurant will make improvements. The question is: Would you be willing to take the chance of another disappointing meal to give them another try? 8-/
food quality’s down. how about their service, doc?
was it disappointing too? i hope not.
Hi Guia, yes the coffee float was really refreshing!
Tracey, I was thinking that the bad experience was just a fluke and plan to give them another try but im really not in a hurry.
DocGelo, the service was alright, i could tell the servers were trying their best but they needed a little more training with regards to the food that they serve. I think its important that the servers know the food they serve and are ready with questions the diners may have.
I had a “duh” moment with the staff when I asked what the difference between too makis was, she had to get the help of a supervisor who was of a little, take note just a little more help. Add to that they served us the wrong ramen, we ordered shoyu and got the shio instead.
that’s sad Richard =(
