Weekend Food Choices Week 66: Hot!
Hubby and i were craving for Mexican food last weekend so we decided to give this much raved about restaurant in Makati a try
Chihuahua Mexican Grill and Margarita Bar has been in operation for about half a year now and boy, were we sorry we didn’t come here sooner!
offering Tex-mex dishes in a bar setting, complete with a disco ball and everything, this seemed like a pretty cool place to hang out it in
the restaurant exhibits an array of sauces that can be taken by diners to their tables
some however, belong to the private stash of Chihuahua’s owner and these bottles on the top shelf seem to come right out of the TV show Man vs Food! Hubby was highly interested but then again the sign said do not take…
we decided to order two of their recommended drinks the Margarita and their famous Michelada, a unique mix of draft beer on the rocks with a dash of Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce and would you believe knorr seasoning (?!?). Its like a deliciouly hot bloody mary!
their frozen margarita was pretty good as well. the glass rim had salt and red pepper so that as you sipped, you lips got a little heat from the pepper which would be soothed by the cold frozen drink…yum!
now on to the dishes….
we heard these were better than our favorite mexican burrito at the fort. they were definitely a lot smaller. hubby thought the whole burrito was just enough for him.
we decided to grab a couple of salsa from the unlimited salsa bar for our burrito
our verdict…
yes this was the most delicious burrito i have tasted locally! the mix of the contents were so drool worthy! believe me, just thinking about it makes me want to go back there and sink my teeth into another one!
as expected hubby and i could not be satisfied with ordering just one dish so we decided to get another of their highly recommended dish
Nacho Grande
chips topped with fresh salsa, chili, cheddar, jalapeno and sour cream
we had to wait about 30 minutes for this to be served. and no, i don’t think it takes that long to prepare, but i think they forgot we ordered it (weird as it may seem because we were actually the only customer there for a few minutes before other diners started to pour in) but the staff was instantly forgiven after a bite
one of the owners of the bar made small talk with hubby as he was admiring the collection of sauces on display. he came over after our nachos were served and offered us his favorite sauce to try
i actually liked the smoky flavor it brought to the dish and the way it was tolerably spicy
if you want to try some really delicious Tex-mex dishes and drown them in hot cocktails, i suggest you head over to Chihuahua and be satisfied!
