A Pot of Happiness
When i got home today, hubby was in the kitchen cooking up a pot of good tom yum
-tom yum paste with vermicelli, straw mushrooms and shiitake mushroom balls…
reminds me of that restaurant that opened a few streets away
Hubby has been harping about this new thai restaurant near our house so a couple of weekends ago we decided we would finally give it a try
this was a bit disappointing, not enough flavor at all!
Thai food is know, not only for being spicy, but for detail, variety and balance of the four tastes
-sweet, sour, salty and spicy
so i was obviously expecting flavor, flavor, flavor
hubby and i was not very happy with this dish, we were expecting the squid’s breading to be crunchy but it wasn’t…another dish i wouldn’t care to order again.
Luckily, our Thai food staple was pretty good
a good clear broth with just the right amount of spice, the kind that runs warmly down your throat
just like hubby’s casserole of tom yum -deliciously spicy!
Thanks hubby for the delicious dinner! im addicted to the fishballs filled with shiitake mushrooms floating with the vermicelli in the clear, sour broth. Perfect on a cool rainy Friday!
What’s your favorite rainy Friday dish?
I love the picture of the shrimp, really appetizing! š
the last photo had me craving for udang! (bahasa malaysia’s term for shrimp/prawns)…:)
