Weekend Food Choices Week 51: Esta Delicioso
I had a busy week behind me and was anticipating a challenging week ahead so hubby and I decided we would have an uncomplicated dinner date
Barcino has been in business for a number of years now. I believe I first saw this interesting tapas bar in ortigas town center. Hubby and I thought it would be an interesting place to dine in but never got the chance to go back and was all but forgotten. Luckily, as hubby was being persuaded to buy a 50 grand pair of wooden earphones (good heavens! –but I must agree the sound quality is amazing!), I got a hold of the Powerplant magazine which featured the owners of Barcino. Reminded that there was a branch where we were, we headed to the ground floor for a nice cozy dinner.
If you enter Barcino from Powerplant Mall and you are not a wine connoisseur, the wine filled wall mount may send you about face but the nice inviting ambiance of the restaurant lured us in with excitement.
It was still early and there were just a couple of pretty girls sitting al fresco sipping on some wine. I imagined that Barcino only had a couple of dishes to choose from but I was delighted to see that the menu was decently lined with interesting food.
Hubby decided he would try a bottle of Spanish beer
He thought that it was pretty good, a light brew delicious with the dishes we ordered.
I had wanted to taste several drinks that were unfortunately not available so our waiter suggested that I have a sangria
I was a bit hesitant at first knowing that it had brandy but surprisingly the wine and brandy fruit punch was really good! I almost had to remind myself to drink slowly lest I get up wobbling.
For starters hubby chose an almost predictable dish, Jalapenos Fritos Rellenos de Queso
Fried Jalapeno peppers stuffed with cheese
I remember liking a dish much like this at Gayuma ni Maria but hubby warned that the chili in this dish was a bit stronger . It was pretty good except that we were expecting the chilies to be cheese filled but rather it seemed the cheese was confined to the breading if at all…
Our next dish was the Potato Bomb
Mashed potato balls stuffed with spicy chorizo japalenos
If you like mashed potatoes with a grainy twist then this would be a good dish to try.
Our 3rd dish was Jamon Serrano con Queso y Tomate
The cured Spanish dry cured ham was simply delicious paired with roasted tomatoes and Manchego cheese!
As we were finishing up our drinks, I told hubby that I actually enjoyed our light and simple dinner.
I was actually already thinking of what to order on our next visit…
