Weekend Food Choices Week 45: Good News and Irony

I received some really good news before the weekend started, something I’ve been eagerly anticipating. Life will be a little more predictable in the next couple of years and to celebrate, hubby and I decided we would do something unpredictable during the weekend.

We decided not to go to the movies as initially planned and ventured to Fort Bonifacio for our burger and pasta fix

We’ve passed by Malcolm’s Deli a number of times on our way to and from the airport but never got the chance to drop by. Unfortunately when we got there last weekend, the AC was busted and Malcolm’s seemed like a steam sauna instead of a deli. I was, however, determined to have a good burger and since there was a cool evening breeze, I agreed to eat al fresco…for the first time.

The cool weather allowed us to order hubby’s favorite French Onion Soup

The soup itself was good but it needed more cheese, preferably mozzarella (and not just any cheese)

Malcolm’s Classic Wagyu Burger

We ordered a well done burger but our wagyu patty was a little rare. Maybe it was too hot inside and the chef just wanted to finish cooking right away, i thought…

I also thought the burger was smaller than expected, just a tad bit bigger than a slider. But boy was it juicy! It was a decent burger but with Charlie’s just right around our corner, why venture all the way to Taguig just for wagyu burger

Salmon Says
Smoked salmon, lemon cream and capers

The photo on the menu showed pink salmon but the one in the actual dish seemed like the one you get in a can. The bread was not so great either -like it was reheated a couple of times. The up side to this dish was that the noodles were cooked perfectly al dente and the cream sauce pretty tasty.

We left Malcolms with full tummies but just not quite satisfied. Hubby and i concluded that their food was good, but not something you’d crave and go back for. In search of something else to complete our evening, we ended up at High Street indulging on Krispy Kreme donuts and large Kafe Kreme beverages before strolling around looking for fitness gear.

Yes, fitness gear…ironic right?!

Imagine my shock when i entered ROX for the first time and realized in my 3 inch heels that there were no escalators to get from floor to floor. Hubby told me i was being silly looking for an escalator in a store where outdoorsy people hang out in…remind me to lug my gym shoes the next time we visit!

The thing that got me really excited, though, when we entered ROX was the coffee alamid that they served in the cafe on the ground floor (thank goodness its on the fist floor!).

…but that post would have to wait … so till next time, eat well everyone!

  1. Malcolm’s! 😀 We frequent their branch in Makati. The one along Valero. Next time try ordering their dishes that aren’t on the menu. Like the Wagyu Tapa. 😀 But I agree with the burger, we ordered their wagyu burger steak before.. it was rare as well kahit na we ordered for it to be well done. I guess, they assumed it’ll be cook a little more by the hot plate. :))
