Ham and Cheese Breakfast
Despite the busy weekend, it wound down to an enjoyable Sunday evening…doing what else, but grocery shopping!
So this morning i decided to use some of my Santi’s deli loot for hubby’s breakfast
Gruyere
One of my favorite cheese because of its sweet, nutty flavor
i prefer the gruyere aged for its more earthy taste and grainier texture
This morning i paired this with the honey ham that we bought at the same deli. Heated for a couple of seconds over the fire, the scent of toasty caramelized goodness mixing with the ham’s fat that slightly melted to line the pan was delicious!
The sweet ham was a wonderful contrast to the sharp taste of the aged cheese
On top of soft buttery white bread with mayo for hubby, none for me, it was a delicious way to start the week!
…hmm, maybe tomorrow i can grill the sandwich and make a croque monseiur! yum! Now who says i can’t do anything in the kitchen?! *smirk*
gruyere is one of my favorite cheeses as well, and it pairs perfectly with some salty ham. if i had it on hand, i’d probably add some raspberry or strawberry preserves to my sandwich–my sweet tooth is insatiable. 🙂
