discoveries after the wedding bells

A Delightful Temptation

I now wake up early three times a week to go to work, and although im a self confessed morning person, i would rather spend the early part of my day lounging around our room catching up on current events or leisurely eating breakfast. But getting up early has never been as exciting until i found this place

I’ve been hearing about the opening of Ya Kun Kaya Toast in Ortigas since late last year but i have never really had the time to go.

However on my first day at MPO, i realized that my road to work would pass by Ya Kun Kaya Toast.

So 2 days later, i got up a couple of minutes early and paid a long overdue visit on my way to work.

I asked the person behind the counter which among of the toasts was a favorite and he recommended the cheesy french toast.

This kaya toast was a soft variety with kaya on the side.

The meal comes with the Ya Kun Coffee, made from beans that are brewed in a metal pot and sock like strainer and pulled from one pot to another

and perfectly cooked soft boiled eggs

The eggs can be seasoned with a thin soy sauce or a thick Singaporean kind depending on your preference.

I prefer the thick soy sauce but just a bit because it can be a little over powering.

Oooh, i can eat this every morning, i thought!

Sure enough, my next schedule at MPO found me passing by Ya Kun Kaya this time with hubby in tow. We decided to order the cheese toast because i prefer my breakfast bread crunchy.
This dish consists of a loaf of crunchy bread sliced into two thin pieces and filled with cheese and kaya

The eggs were again perfectly soft boiled

and the Ya Kun coffee undeniably addicting

As we were enjoying our breakfast, hubby teased that he knew me too well and had to guess i that i was probably going to be one of the regular customers of Ya Kun Kaya Toast.

He got that right!

Today i had another schedule at MPO and as my mind wanted to steer left to go to work, my hands steered right to park in front of Ya Kun Kaya Toast. Blame it on early morning in-coordination!! It was still early i thought, and i didn’t have time to press my coffee beans this morning. So i dropped by for a delicious cup of pulled coffee and drove off lest i was tempted to order the perfectly soft eggs …

No doubt about it, Ya Kun Kaya will definitely be a wonderful temptation that will make my early morning schedule something to look forward to!

    • dyanie, i’ve never tried the kaya toast of kopi roti but i suggest you come over to ortigas to try this place out. the iced tea (although not in the is post) is delicious! They brew the tea daily. Its definitely not made from the instant iced tea mix! =)
