Weekend Food Choices Week 21: Heroes Come in All Forms
For a while now I’ve been thinking about Efren Penaflorida Jr, CNN’s hero for 2009. After all the sad news that has plagued our country, its finally great to hear news that we could be proud of.
(from Pinoyambisyoso)
Now, who would have thought that tucked away in a little street in San Juan is a pizzeria that would equally make my day!
I’ve been hearing about good food finds in San Juan but I haven’t been particularly interested until i saw this post from a blog i frequent.
Majority of Sandy’s fans have their pizza delivered at home but I wanted to go and see where these good looking pizzas were made so I decided this would be a wonderful place to go for our Sunday out.
If you’re with a large group, it would be better to have the pizza delivered because Sandy’s only has 2 small tables which can accommodate 2 diners each. It would also be good to go at night if you do want to eat your pizza there because the small dining area is set outdoor. But because the pizzeria is located in one of the smaller streets of San Juan, the passing vehicles are not really a bother.
We decided to get the small sampler, a 14-inch pizza with your choice of 4 toppings.
Sampler: Garlic Tuyo in Olive Oil, Meatzarella, Pizza Margherita, and White Pizza. This could satisfy 3-4 people.
The good thing about eating at Sandy’s is that you get to eat your pizza as soon as it comes out of the oven.
The pizza was delicious!
My favorite from the 4 we sampled would have to be the White Pizza. A blend of Mozarella, Parmesan and Kesong Puti generously topping a thin crust would send any cheese fanatic to pizza heaven!
I had no regrets in going all the way to this pizza’s origin to try the flavorful thin crust. It definitely made my day!
…my hero!
sarap ng pizza nila no? i like white cheese too very unique ang flavor with the kesong puti. they also have a branch in katipunan near white plains. 🙂
sayang di namin to na try. di bale may next time pa naman. btw, sandy is the sis of gabby concepcion hehe. wala lang.
grabe ang galing ni efren! ang galing ng pinoy! 🙂
hi urbanmudra, its so funny, i only found out about their branch in katipunan after our trip to san juan to think we were already in the area before we went to get our pizza! hehehe! at least now i know of a nearer branch i could get my pizza from!
hi dyanie, you must try their pizza! you will definitely go back for more! i realized sandy was the sister of a celebrity when we saw the pictures on pizzeria’s counter =) and yes, ang galing ng pinoy!
