When Your Husband Is Choosy

Everybody who knows hubby, knows he is picky, picky, picky, and that he would rather starve than eat something he does not like (i.e. adobo ?!?!!). So when we found this restaurant a few minutes away from home that serves home cooked-like food, i was pleased.

This little restaurant serves very affordable rice meals

You order at the counter in front and choose if you want to stay by the counter or inside an air conditioned room.

We ordered the grilled squid

we were really pleased that the squid was humongous…ok, not humongous but it was definitely bigger than we expected

we were also happy with how the squid was so tender and flavorful! hubby said it was probably due to the lemon grass-like greens inside the squid as it was grilled.

With a good first dish experience and great service, we surely we will be back at Zulu!

  1. there’s nothing wrong with being choosy, it only proves your husband has good taste 😀
    but i can’t believe he doesn’t like adobo 😦
anyway, to each his own of course.

    that grilled pusit looks delish.

  3. He doesn’t like adobo?!? Why?

Still, that grilled squid looks fantastic. I should drop by Zulu if I’m ever in the Pasig area. 😀

  4. did they give you an official receipt? when i went there, they did not issue any official receipt. i commented about it on the owner’s multiply site, but instead of contacting me, she took down my post and the entire page on zulu grill. very bad customer service.

  5. They did NOT give me a receipt when I went there. The squid is NOT humongous, it was disappointing. The adobo & rice was barely warm when it was served to me. I didn’t like Zulu Grill at all.

  6. hi gemma and anj! hmmm, i really dont remember if they gave us a receipt when we ate there but i do remember that the service was good. the guy who waited on us was really attentive and accommodated all our requests. its sad to hear you guys didnt have a good experience when you ate there. after our first visit we never got the chance to go back so i cant really comment on how consistent they are. it would be a pity if their service and food have already deteriorated at such an early phase of their business.

doc, dyosa and midge, let us know if you had the same experience if you’ve already gone to zulu.

  7. I had a really great time in Zulu Grill! They upgraded the service right now. It’s no longer counter type but it’s a sit down set up already! They have also expanded their menu.

It’s a pity that some of you have had not so good experiences but I think for any starting restaurant, that happens. Let’s give these guys a chance. I heard they are just fresh grads trying out doing business. 🙂

  8. I read this blog yesterday and decided i had to try it since i live 5 mins away from the place… I just came from there and the food was excellent! I tried the chicken marinara (chicken fillet topped with marinara sauce), again, it was excellent!!! And the price isnt bad at all! Service was great too, btw.

  9. As much as I love adobo, I would gladly trade it for this grilled squid. It looks soooo good!

  10. The employees were gracious definitely. It’s the food that made the bad impression. I live so close to the area, but I can’t say I’m going back.

  11. The food was really great! thanks for the post. Will definitely go back! Btw, try their grilled fusions, its to die for, very good with an ice cold beer! hehehe.

Anj and gemma, hope you guys can try it again, the food was really good this time. and judging from all the comments posted, i guess they really did improve! Im not sure if they have receipts already, but i did notice their permits which are already displayed. Hope that helps.

  13. The food was great actually, i ordered Grilled Chicken with Mushroom sauce and my friends ordered Grilled Liempo, Gising-Gising. It was really good…they gave us FREE calamares also (for every order worth 200.00). Anyway we’re actually going there for Lunch today coz i told my officemates how cozy the place and how yummy their menu. We’ll see…maybe on my next visit I might have some comments to share with you guys! happy eating to everyone.
