discoveries after the wedding bells

ranting of a dissatisfied customer

we ran into a few disappointments today. first of all, the traffic jam going to greenbelt was the worst! then the movie we watched was ho-hum and lastly, bad service from a potentially good coffee and tea place!

first of all personnel had no cheer. we waited for the longest time for the person ordering in front of us due to a credit card problem and when the cashier faced us it was like nothing happened! not even an apology! so after 5 years we finally got to pay and waited for our order to be called. when i could no longer wait, i asked for my drink and realized it was among those that were sitting around on the counter. they didnt even call it out or maybe called it but when no one acknowledged tough luck. they didnt even give tissue and when i asked the barista, he seemed annoyed as if it was not his job and the girl serving who was at that time serving another customer. i had to ask twice (i kind of felt he was ignoring me). and when i finally was able to sit down with my drink in hand, the cap of the disposable cup would not securely fit so i left it out for fear of getting drenched in hot beverage. this made my drink get cold faster. bummer! too bad because they have some good products and bad service really does serious damage!

truly dissatisfied!

beauty, upgrades & saving the world

today we went to get hubby’s hair cut and my feet pampered at sunji matsuo, a singapore based newly opened salon in manila. where we found our old hair dresser and manicurista! fate? maybe!

these were my beauty essentials for the day

(all care of my mommy with the great fashion sense!)

we heard mass at the powerplant mall, had dinner at wild ginger, and then……i finally decided to buy something ive been eying for a long time now (it must have been something in the crispy spring rolls or the thai curry or the nasing goreng, or tapioca dessert we ate for dinner, yum!).

yup, ive been spying on this item for 6 months now!

this was not without drama because when i went to the window and said i would get it for myself, hubby thought that it was not a good buy so i had my pouty face all the way down to the parking lot, tears filling my eyes barely spilling over (hehehe! what a drama queen!), and so he gave in!

i love my hubby!

so from the parking lot, back we went to the 2nd level of the mall to get the new addition to my closet…..

are you ready?

note the nice leather handle and the wood plaque

i’m a natural shopper! (say no to plastic bags!) this came in full cream color when it fist hit the stores in december. whenever we’d pass the aranaz shop i would check if they still displayed it. then for sometime it was gone and i surrendered to the fact that they sold all their stocks. that was until this evening when i saw it again. and in a different color!!! uniquely mine!

i think this is way better than Anya Hindmarch’s im not a plastic bag because of its unique details. add the fact that each sale of this bag gives P200 to an environmental org

and the best thing is, it’s proudly filipino! what more could you ask for?!

this will be my alternative to my kate…..

note our green bag that we’ve been neglecting to bring along (we’re such forgetful jones!), apologies to mother earth!

im so happy with my new purchase! i cant wait to use it!!! this will definitely go well with my acquired (by force, to look thinner) taste for black ensembles!! oooohhhh im so excited!

did anyone notice the quality of my pictures above? they were taken by an iphone because we had to sell hubby’s camera to fund my shopping spree…..nah!

he just sold it and is waiting for his upgrade to a D300

hmmm….it looks like his old one! hahaha! im so naive! according to hubby it has a bigger screen, faster frames per second (what ever that means!), and live view!

ok then, since i got my bag then he gets his upgrade. after all, a good marriage is based on compromise! ;p

a productive day

today i was scheduled for my passport renewal.

thank you to congressman romulo who sponsored the mobile DFA booths with tons of chairs for people like me waiting for our turn to be called. i got there 15 min before 8am and i was surprised when i registered that i was number 252! since the process had not started, hubby and i went to a nearby jollibee to eat breakfast. it has been a long time since weve had fastfood and i was surprised to see that they served the food in plates and not in styro! hehehe! im not sure how long this has been happening but wait a go jollibee for going green!

after an hour i was back in the make shift DFA headquarters armed with my pocketbook and sigg. i found a good place under the shade and tried to mind my own business. they were calling number 38. after a number of pages, several gulps and 2 hours, number 252 was finally called and in less than 10 minutes i was finished. it was more or less organized for a makeshift passport renewal area and thank goodness the personnel were efficient. and mind you it only cost me P750 compared to the P1500 i was willing to pay with an agency or with the home delivery service, both of which still required you to get in line in DFA with the 5000 applicants that go there daily! yippee for an efficient government process!

we proceeded to mega mall when i had finished and ate at sushiya. i had mixed maki with ice cold barley tea

then we went to take a look if it was my lucky day to buy my new phone. we unfortunately found out that the samsung i900 was not yet in town. the official samsung store said it would come to manila in a few months (but i cant wait for a few months!) but a store said they will be importing by next month….wohhoooo! i will not name the store less someone beats me to the prized item! hehehe! so i had them bring out the demo of the htc diamond and played with it. yep it was a fingerprint magnet alright but as to the response of the touch flo 3d, it was pretty fast.

i was so tempted to buy it already!!! but hubby said to wait for the samsung so that i wont have regrets. the samsung i900 launched in singapore in june and was just launched in italy a few days ago. it wont be out in germany until august according to articles.

haaaaaayyyy….. ooookkk……

and since i did not satisfy the little brat in me we went to get consolation with a good treat. we went to try the ohh so famous angelati italia gelato.

angelati-big.jpgit was a bit pricey but it was definitely worth it. i had gotten the pure pistachio and hubby got the blueberry cheesecake. they were both really good. the gelato was so smooth and creamy and not too sweet. very, very good! ice cream lovers this is a must try!

we then went on our grocery errands and went home with dinner in a plastic bag (yes we again forgot our green bag!!! boohoohoo!). anyway, i found some pinakbet left over from lunch and found that more interesting than the turboed chicken we brought home. vegiiieeesss! hehehe!

hubby said that this was the yuckiest ulam (he does not eat veggies) because it comprises all the yucky stuff in one viand! hehehe! thank goodness his dad eats this and i get to taste it once in a while. i suddenly miss my mom’s pinakbet with the woody veggie with seeds in it. hhmmmm, im not sure what thats called.

our yummy dinner was ended with ube cake and really good chinese tea.

this tea is really cool. the leaves are hand rolled and comes in a transparent cloth like tea bag. such smooth flavor. unfortunately hubby does not enjoy tea either! this is when i miss my brother and sister who are food enthusiasts like moi (not necessarily tea) who are willing to try new cuisines.

despite the food filled day, we still have our little loot for tonights movie (made of honor). my favorite heart stopping RLapids specialty

it looks like my diet is on a short vacation. gosh, i just remembered 2 weeks ago mango had a sale (the clothes store….not the fruit! hehehe!) and jeans were so cheap but unfortunately i fitted a much larger size and i refused to buy jeans in that size! mwhahahaha! but thats another blog altogether!

i hope everyone else is having a great weekend!

thank you for the music

CLICK PLAY (above) and read……

i have always loved music even at a very young age (thanks to my parents who appreciated great music acquiring and playing 12 inch LP records of the famous beatles, simon and garfunkel, abba…..and to santa who gave me my first oversized double cassette tape player/recorder when i was only 8 years old). appreciating the different types of melodies from classical to pop, i had always found myself groping for a stereotype to label my preference. this has been in vain and frankly, at this stage in life, i have accepted my out of the box personality. mind you i said i appreciate music, my interpretations are something only a mother could love (or not)! hehehe!

i woke up this morning listening to the soundtrack of mama mia while i read on my cases and went down to breakfast humming the melody of super trouper. my conservative hubby gave me a funny look as he always does when i do something spontaneous (which often happens these days). but because my contagious humming was so irresistible ***Super trouper beams are gonna blind me But I wont feel blue Like I always do cause somewhere in the crowd theres you*** he started mockingly singing the chorus back.  im sure he just got wrapped up in my tune (hahaha!).

so what makes a good morning?

great tasting coffee from our loot bag which we brewed filling the house with french vanilla scent

bibingka which has become a staple on sunday mornings, something of a tradition

the sunday paper, reading fashion and travel articles and other feel good stories

and music……what a lovely combination!

sundays have always been a good day. a day when you can slow down and appreciate the days that have passed and look forward to the week to come. the early riser that i am, i usually have a few hours of quiet time alone to muse about….oh almost about anything. this peaceful time has always been a refuge for me. people have always said im such a quiet individual and they say quiet waters run deep. but what they dont know is that the quiet girl sings in the shower (mwhahaha!)

today we will go to greenhills to try to get my nokia phone fixed. it crashed on me when i good naturedly went on duty to break the every-other day-duty of the seniors on the floors. i guess its not used to duty hours anymore. im not sure what i will do if it does not get fixed because i have not fallen in love with a phone model since my O2, 2 years ago. c’est la vie! no movies to watch today (pangs has watch batman in imax without me because im such a scaredy cat with suspense movies with dark scenes) so we will probably try to find a good place to eat. good things to look forward to on a lovely sunday with the person you love……

(if you’re patient you can sing along to the hidden track with the lyrics below….wait for it….a couple more minutes….)

Im nothing special, in fact Im a bit of a bore
If I tell a joke, youve probably heard it before
But I have a talent, a wonderful thing
cause everyone listens when I start to sing
Im so grateful and proud
All I want is to sing it out loud

So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs Im singing
Thanks for all the joy theyre bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me

Mother says I was a dancer before I could walk
She says I began to sing long before I could talk
And Ive often wondered, how did it all start?
Who found out that nothing can capture a heart
Like a melody can?
Well, whoever it was, Im a fan

So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs Im singing
Thanks for all the joy theyre bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me

Ive been so lucky, I am the girl with golden hair
I wanna sing it out to everybody
What a joy, what a life, what a chance!

So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs Im singing
Thanks for all the joy theyre bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me
