Just Another Manic Monday
Last weekend one of lima’s tires got busted (a horrible experience) and because hubby felt sorry for me… he got me new rims!

ok, the “felt sorry” part is kind of going overboard, but yes, we did get these gold SSR for me

this is how lima’s tires looked initially

and this is my personal tire changer (AKA hubby) installing the new rims with his pneumatic impact gun and wearing his official uniform hehehe!

thadahhh!

and so i went to work this morning with lima wearing her new shoes yay! *wootwoot*
and just as i thought that was the highlight of my day, when i got home, i found more goodies!!! hubby had for me a little package ive been waiting for, maybe for 3 weeks now!!

*hopping up and down*

i could not open it until after dinner, i just wanted to savor the unopened envelope! hehehe! im such a masochist!

finally after dinner, i ripped open the package

my Borders & Frontiers shirt designed by one of my favorite artist, Danny Roberts

my treasure…

hmmm…i wonder if ill ever really wear this or just keep it as a collection?!?… i loooovvveee it!
now, who ever said mondays are always manic, could be right… as i am happily manic today!
Getting Burned while Watching the Speeding Grease Monkeys
my hubby is a grease monkey. he loves to work on cars and thus 1/4 or our garage is filled with tools and equipment. i have yet to brave the grease laden contraptions to put to rest my OC conscience which i know is far from happening! hehehe!
hubby’s love for fixing and modifying motors engines, leads to the inevitable racetracks, sometimes as a participant and sometimes as a photographer.
this year, hubby had not participated in any race because his partner ruby has a clutch to be mended so donning his photographer cap and lugging a ton of equipment, we got up early on a sunday and headed to Meycauayan Bulacan for the Autocross 2009.
When we arrived, the makeshift racetrack already had cones set up. the venue was a big empty lot with streets and greens, a lot like a village waiting for houses to be built.
a tent was set up for the Club Mitsu boys (and gal -thats moi)

thanx to DY’s ever supportive dad, a big fan powered by a generator was at hand complete with cushiony chairs!
(ok, only a girl could get excited about cushiony chairs! hehehe!).
other cars arrived, mostly driven, some carried on flatbeds
soon the drivers finished the registration procedures and got instructions at the announcement booth.
drivers were to race the track in pairs, both going opposite directions but running the same course. they were given 2 runs and a penalty of 2 seconds for each cone they carnaged.
while waiting for the race to start, we went to check out the car show at the sides of the track where a couple of interesting rides were parked.
the last time i had seen a Lamborghini in real life was at a museum in Germany back when i could still count my age with my own fingers so this was a treat! i had wanted to ask the owner of this car if i could sit inside so hubby could take my picture but hubby said that was silly -ok fine!
so less i embarrass him in front of the racing community, i had to restrain myself and appreciate the eye candy from its outside! hehehe!

finally the race started and one by one hubby’s CM buddies were called to the starting line
this is DY who championed in one of races that day! congrats DY!!

next to run was DM

and then SA

we didnt get much pictures of TM because hubby was shooting the video cam during his run
(and i was at the sidelines keeping his he-avy camera under the umbrella – dakilang assistant).
here’s a shot of TM getting ready to race against DGL. it was a close race! yay for TM who quietly amazed the crowd as he flew in just a few measly seconds after DGL.
DGL is a multi awarded racer from Cebu. he wowed the crowds during the trial runs with his speed and loud engine revving.
i overheard he was a drag racer (eavesdropper! hahaha!) who ships his car to manila or where ever a race is held.

a few minutes of light rain frustrated some of the racers due to the slick on the track but that didnt stop the event. it was a crash of one of the cars that took nearly an hour to clear that broke the momentum of the race. luckily, no one was hurt aside from the car (and most likely the driver’s ego).
we stayed for as long as we could but when the skies looked like it was going to pour some more, we decided to head home, the dakilang assistant with burned extremities because she forgot to put extra sunblock on her arms! ooooucch!
Lights and Shadows
hubby has always been into photography and i must say, he’s got talent!
his equipment started with a digital camera upgraded into a DSLR. various lenses were acquired and now, its flash that he’s crazy about.
ive never liked the camera flash because, well, i prefer warm lighting in my photos. but when i saw what strobes, and creativity could do, i was amazed!

i never knew lights and shadows could be so beautiful in photographs

but its all very complicated, the angles and lighting and other technical equipment…
…i think ill stick with my macro shots and let him take care of the strobes

Easy Way Out
there are just some things in life we love to do, and some things we’d rather ignore. for me, one of the things i’d rather forget would be cleaning my laptop.
you see, i thrive daily on my good old white apple which seems to attract smudge and soot (as if a chimney is anywhere near!) like a magnet. and when hubby started to notice, he bought me a cleaner that’s supposed to remove the dirt. its been on our shelves for a couple of months now but it wasn’t until the recent vacation that i braved my way to the long forgotten cleaning pads.

the instructions were easy enough, i thought,

it said wet, wipe, done….

i could not believe my eyes!
the dirt just slid off as if powder on a tabletop! sorry there is no “before picture” as i did not think these pads to be miracle workers worthy of any shutter time but i was so amazed i just had to share! hahaha!
if i had known it to be this easy, i would have given my lovely tech companion a much needed wipe ages ago! but the fear of difficulty and sheer laziness kept me from it…
and like most difficult things in life, the real easy way out is just to get it over with! after that, you’ll be surprised how easy it is to move on!
Morning Experiments with Microwaved Eggs
there was a sale at S&R last April 1-5 and since hubby’s office is a stone throw away from one of their branches, he surprised me with a purchase.

it was a contraption that allows you to cook eggs in the microwave!

we have found a way to cook very crispy bacon in the microwave with all its grease absorbed by paper towels but i didnt know you could cook eggs in the microwave either!

hehehe! silly me initially thought it was an april fools day prank, but i happily found out it could really be done!

the content of the box looked like a mini juicer

and inside it were aluminum lining with holes

instructions say that water was to be placed on the bottom part of the plastic encasement.

we then placed the raw egg tip down and set the microwave for 3 minutes. i was so excited to open the microwave cooked egg when the 3 minutes were up and so hubby cracked it open hurried by my enthusiasm, burning his fingers in the process!

we found the first product too cooked and thought that we could alter the directions on the box and cook it at 2 min 30 seconds and then drop it in an ice bath, less we want to thoroughly burn all of hubby’s fingertips!

the 2nd product turned out quite well

the white was cooked and the center was soft, but i like my egg yolk a little soupy and tried to cooked the 3rd egg at 2minutes and 20 seconds. this produced an almost raw egg which spilled and escaped my lens.
the next morning we repeated the microwaved egg experiment, this time with a different batch of eggs and went with 2 minutes 30 seconds without the ice bath and produced my soupy eggs. *big smile*
best paired with crunchy bacon and my favorite orange juice -sour and pulpy!

what a great way to start our morning!
