Weekend Food Choices Week 44: Even Old News can be Good
I know what you’re going to say … this post’s topic is yesterday’s news, but that’s alright
Alexandre has been in business for sometime and has been rapidly expanding but i must admit, last weekend was our first time to dine in this french cafe
It was one of the few weekends when we had the luxury to spend the whole day together so i we decided we would end it with a nice dinner date
One look at the menu and hubby knew what to order, i on the other hand couldn’t make up my mind because i wanted to order so many things!
Lasagna Bolognese with Bechamel Sauce
The lasagna did need a little more heating, but for us to wipe the dish clean despite the slightly cold middle, then of course you can only conclude that this pasta was delicious!
Fresh and smoked salmon with emmental cheese…yummy!
Now, our server told me that the quiche came with salad and bread but i was surprised that she actually meant a basket full of bread!
There were so much bread left that we eventually took a bag full home.
The thing was, i really didn’t want to ruin my appetite for the most important part of any date…coffee and dessert…
The coffee was good but i wish they didn’t put cinnamon in my cup. I like my coffee unadulterated…I’ll be sure to make this request the next time i order a cup.
Strawberry Crepe
Alexandre’s organic crepe made of oat bran
I was a bit disappointed that this didn’t have fresh whole strawberries in it but the crepe itself and the home made vanilla ice cream was pretty good.
Initially hubby wanted to just share my dessert but when i told him i spied at the pastry display a row of creme brulee -which just happens to be one of his favorite dessert, he instantly made up his mind to order his own dessert and boy was i glad! This is definitely not your usual creme brulee. Its was delicious! I would definitely order this again on our next visit.
So as we sipped our coffee in between conversations, i realized how fast the days were passing us by. In a couple of days its going to be Christmas!

Another year is about to end and another one ready to be made…and this got me thinking, just imagine how much more good food we would be sampling in the year to come!
