10 Things I Learned in the Last Decade
It seemed that everyone was extremely busy over the holidays. This year i decided to throw caution to the wind and watched (and inadvertently inhaled the smoke of) the fireworks outside the confines of my home for the first time in my life.
It was fun & scary at the same time.
After all the activities outside, I amaturely hosted our small new years eve celebration
Aside from the traditional Leche Flan and Ginataang Bilo-Bilo, i added a couple of h’ordeurves
Cheese Platter (Australian Brie, Goat’s Cheese with Cranberry, Parmisiano, Smokes Cheddar)
Crostini & Dips (Spinach & Artichoke, Filipino Caviar, Pesto in Olive Oil)
A decade over and another one unfolding before us. I cant help but think how fast those 10 years passed me by…or is it always like that when you look back?
They say hind sight is 20-20 vision, so here are the 10 things i learned for every year in the last decade:
2000: Dont be fooled, often its the quiet one that s the keeper
2001: A wedding proposal after hot dogs at 7-11 is less than ideal but can still make you happy (then cry laughing about the irony of it all)
2002: Living on your own is not as easy as it seems (Kudos Mom! How do u keep the house immaculately in order at all times?!)
2003: You have to take off your rose colored glasses sometime in your life
2004: Traveling & watching foreign films are my cup of tea (or coffee in my case)
2005: Earning your first allowance from work proves you have a long way to go
2006: When you stop complaining & just do your job, the work gets done eventually
2007: Weddings make happy memories, despite the glitches, when you’re walking down the aisle with the right guy (it helps to have Pat Dy as your photographer, Bong of Mac as your make up artist and Princess & Dianne as your coordinator -thanks guys!)
2008: Strategic planning & managing people can be fun (despite the childishness you sometimes have to put up with)
2009: No matter how much you prepare for life, you’re always at a lost during the first few months in the real world (thank goodness for supportive family & mentors)

Here’s to a hopeful new decade!
