A New Find

Amidst the grocery chaos of hoarding and shopping for charity, among the empty sardine shelves and thoughts of snatching hubby’s fave noodles from someone else cart because it was the last pack, i found this

Hubby and i have been trying the flavors of Oishi’s Gourmet Picks.

I got my preference the first time with the Sea Salt version which I liked a lot because of the simple flavor. It was potato chips in the traditional sense. Hubby didn’t like it because of the odd reason that he does not really like plain potato chips (?!)

During our next trip to the grocery, he got his way, and we brought home the Kimchi flavored chips. I’ve never liked kimchi. The sour smell just turns me off. Hubby on the other hand loves it. We ended up not finishing the bag and me sending the unfinished pack with hubby to work the next day. As of date, he tells me there is still some left!

So when i found this third flavor of Oishi’s Gourmet Picks, i was thrilled

Hubby and i both love this flavor. In fact, we stock on Ridges’ version of these chips in our pantry. I thought that maybe this pack would be a new favorite.

What i like about Oishi’s Gourmet Picks is that the chips are thicker and seem like a higher quality snack compared to the usual local chips. That’s why they charge double, i guess.

I thought the added nori to our favorite wasabi flavored snack was interesting, but hubby thought it was sissy. I would have to be honest and say i sort of agree. The sweetness of the nori does subdue the wasabi flavor.

Conclussion: If you’re a wasabi amateur, you might prefer Oishi’s Wasabi & Nori chips, but on the other hand, if you’re a wasabi fanatic, you might want to go with Ridges’ Wasabi chips for that up the nostril sensation that’s so good with sushi or sashimi.

Sushi and sashimi…hmmm…..but that’s another post all together!
